Description

Real-Time Sludge Blanket Monitoring for Process Optimization

In wastewater treatment, primary/secondary clarifiers, and industrial settling basins, knowing the exact depth of settled sludge is critical. Pumping too early wastes energy on thin sludge, while waiting too long causes solids carryover into clean effluent. The SUL812 Ultrasonic Sludge Level Meter uses high-frequency submerged acoustic pulses (100kHz–200kHz) to continuously pinpoint the mud/water interface layer.


Dual-Unit Design: Rugged Submerged Probe + Feature-Rich Host

The SUL812 features a heavy-duty stainless steel submerged transducer attached to a 10-meter cable with handle ear for hanging. The separate wall-mounted controller features a multi-information LCD display with LED backlighting, making field calibration and reading straightforward.

Q: How is the SUL812 sensor probe installed in the tank?

A: The sensor probe is submerged directly into the tank liquid to a depth of at least 0.5 meters below the water surface to avoid surface foam and agitation. The probe must be mounted at least 0.5 meters away from side walls.

Q: What is the difference between a standard liquid level meter and a sludge level meter?

A: A standard liquid level meter measures the top surface of liquid from above in air[cite: 1, 2]. The SUL812 sludge level meter is submerged underwater and looks downward through the water to measure where the water stops and the settled mud/sludge layer begins.

Q: Can the alarm relays directly trigger a de-sludging pump?

A: Yes. The SUL812 includes upper and lower limit relay alarm outputs that can be wired directly to control de-sludging pumps, motorized valves, or input into a VFD/PLC control loop.
