The SUL811 Handheld Ultrasonic Water Depth Detector provides an instant, digital bathymetric survey solution. Simply lower the IP68 probe into the water column from a boat, dock, or bridge. High-frequency sonar pulses propagate through the water layer, automatically calculating precise distance down to the bed floor.

FAQ

Q: Can this depth gauge take readings in open air or through ice?

A: No. Ultrasonic bathymetric transducers must be submerged in water (at least 0.5 meters below the surface) to transmit acoustic waves through the water medium. They cannot measure water depth from the air.

Q: How do I use the SUL811 in seawater versus fresh water?

A: Because acoustic velocity changes based on water density, the handheld unit features a menu setting where you can select the water medium or enter salinity values for precise seawater depth readings.

Q: Is the handheld display unit waterproof?

A: The submerged transducer probe is fully IP68 waterproof, but the handheld unit itself is protected for standard outdoor field use (not submersible). Always keep the display unit stored in its protective aluminum case when working near splashing water.
